Car Illustrations

I have been doing some illustrations of cars just for fun. I find it relaxing and I am reasonably pleased with the finished product. Let me know what you think.

Very very nice! I really like your illustration style. How are they produced?

The 917 is my favorite

Thanks, I use corel draw just because I find it easier than adobe illustrator. I have used both for a long time. I start with a picture and use that as the base and then draw each line and each curve from scratch. The style comes in by choosing what to draw simply and what details to really home in on. I think I will do the Flying Lizard Le Mans #80 car next but it is going to take a long time due to the art car nature of the graphics. I figure if I can do that one I can do anything at that point.

Very impressive, landrovered, wish I had skill like that.

Can I put in a request for one of the Porsche RS Spyder LMP2 cars? I'd be interested to see your take on that.

And I hope you'll pardon me for dropping some pics that are not yours into your thread. I'll remove them if you wish, just thought I'd provide some references.

EDIT: Smaller images dropped in per ladrovered's request; couldn't find smaller sizes of the same images, unfortunately, but these are good replacements, IMO.

had to put in one more I found, thought it was cool.

I am planning to do an RS Spyder and I don't mind the pics at all. I will do the Team Cytosport Muscle Milk car from last season, I was a big fan of Klaus Graf and Lucas Luhr as well as Greg Pickett.

Work has begun on the 2010 Le Mans Flying Lizard RSR already, it is going to take me a week I bet.

Kewl! I like that Boxster one...that is nice. Can you add a twist to the first two, put Cartman in the first one and a Smiley mouth on the second, the lights look like eyes!

Here is the Flying Lizard 2010 Le Mans entry driven by Long, Luhr and Bergmeister. I really like the art car like design of the livery but I dont ever want to draw it again. Once is enough for this design. anyway enjoy.

I will be producing giclee prints and posters in the future, I am working on paper selection right now and will be offering limited edition signed prints in the not too distant future. I can tell you that the test prints I have done here at home are 11x17 and they look really awesome at scale. The flying lizard car is going to be large at 36 x 53. It really pops in person and should be awesome.

My shading and highlights have improved a lot in the last couple of illustrations so I went back and re-did the shading on the 550 and will re-do the shading on the Boxster as well. It makes a big difference to me.

At first I wanted to do last years ALMS LMP1 version then I was going to do the older yellow LMP2 version and then I finally found the angle I wanted in the Muscle Milk car. I was impressed when Lucas Luhr said at Laguna Seca last year "We were running the entire race on only five cylinders but we knew we could make it because it is German". This one looks much better in person, the tiny .jpg does not really capture the detail.
