97 Boxster on 18's, oh no!

Just wanted to share a few pics of my ride. I just purchased a set of BSA 18" wheels, 18 X 8 et 48 on 225-40-18's and the rears are 18 X 10 et 52 on 265-35-18's. I had to put a set of 7mm Eibach spacers on the rear to clear the struts. I had a lot of great feedback and help from Johnny Danger and Allen L. So far the other mods I have done are painted and logo'd brake calipers, clear corner lights, newer model taillights (de-ambered), and smoked front lower lights. I have also upgraded the sound system to a boston acoustics 3 way set; 1 inch tweeter, 4 inch mid-range, and a 6.5 inch driver. I also added an Alpine head unit.

I am looking for some suggestions as for a nice aftermarket exhaust setup as well.

Thanks for looking!

nice... you should also pick up some chrome, black chrome or powder coated wheel bolts as your rusted ones look... well rusted.

McGard now makes a locking set for Porsche w/ floating collar which I put on my car (in shiny chrome to match my HRE P40s)

See ebay:

item #: 320653592985 for black chrome

or

item #: 390287044696 for chrome

for more details. Not associated w/ seller, just satisfied buyer.

Good luck

Bad ass nice for a 97!! Great choice in wheels, they are a perfect match. Love that interior and you have done a great job on the paint, it shows!

Thanks WhipE350, it has become almost an obsession, lol, well so says the wife. Burg Boxster, I did replace with powder coated black ones, that pic was from the first day that I got the rims, but thanks for sharing the links.

Car looks great!

I was wondering how you smoked out the front lower lights on your ride? I also own a Black Boxster and hate looking at the yellow factory headlights. Again your car looks great!

Boxster 02, thanks for your comments! As for the lights, this may sound a little crazy but I found a product called VHT Nightshades at my local Advance Auto Parts store. It is an aerosol based product. I masked off the headlights and wet-sanded the amber part of the light with 2000 grit, cleaned with alcohol, and then applied the paint. I only put two coats on mine, as not to create too much of a problem when getting inspections. Once I had the desired tint I clear coated them and polished them out with Maguiars Polish compound. You can still see the turn signals with no difficulty as well! You can search it on youtube and find various posts of people doing this application.

Best of Luck!

Thumbs up

Bobdogw

Can I get a front end shot so I can see the lights better? Also maybe a closeup? Looks really hot and I am almost convinced to do it myself.

Thanks "97 Boxster", I thought about going a little bit darker but I didn't want any problems getting a state inspection. Here is a shot of the front that I already had, I will try to take a couple close-ups this weekend and get them posted.

Been done for a while, painted black, I was just so excited the day I got the tires mounted that I had to see what they looked like on the car.

Did you take the bumper cover off to paint the grill?

I took mine off to paint them and it was a ********************, nothing too hard its just a lot of wrenching and crawling around on the ground. Well worth it though, plus you can clean the radiators out when your in there.

I had my pumper off to clean the radiators and decided to paint the grills then. They pop off the pumper, makes it easy to paint them. there is a youtube video on how to take the bumper off, it says use two people but I did it myself.

I like the headlight shot and will do this to mine soon. Did you do the rears as well?

Supplies:
-nightshades paint
-2000 grit sandpaper
-alcohol to clean
-mask off the headlight

Thanks.

I have not done the rear lights yet. I have thought about doing those as well as the clear side marker lights too. Maybe a project for this winter. I also wanted to share a couple HDR pics my buddy took the other day.
