By most accounts, the fronts are believed to be just under 20 lbs., and the rears a little bit over that . Personally, I question the validity of those figures. Most of the oem wheels that I have come across, have always weighted in a bit more than the published specs .

Check the spec at Tirerack, 18" tires are around 25-26lbs.

Well you asked about the stock turbo-style 17 inchers, which came in the 7.5 and 8 (front/rear) indicated. If you do have wider ones, then they're probably not the OEM wheels. What are your tire dimensions on the sidewalls?

255/40 ZR17 94H Rear = 10.03 inches wide
205/50 ZR17 Front = 8.07 inches wide

It may be a model year specific thing, then. I can't remember what year yours is, but my 97 has 7in fronts and 8.5 in rears (made a typo earlier and put the .5 in the wrong spot, my bad). I've never known the 986 to have anything different for 17s. I would also say don't judge the wheel width by the tire width, since (to me, at least), the rim sits a bit deeper inside than the outermost part of the wheel, so you may very well have a half inch on either end that's just rubber.
Since the 996 had the same wheels at that same time, perhaps just with more width (just speculation on my part, not 100% sure), it could be that you have the 7 or 8.5 in front and the 9inch rear off of a 996. The style's exactly the same, it's just a deeper wheel.

ProjectM96, your tire dimensions front and rear match that of a '99 996 with 17s. Again, I don't know if that means they just threw on different size tires or the wheels were a bit wider for a 911, but I imagine it's the latter.
