There is no such thing as a mid engine 911. To my knowledge, there never has been one and the 997 is of course, rear engine.
Sorry but to have ANY consistency in models, logic etc, this new coupe is a Boxster. Calling it after a Carib island doesn't change the laws of physics or logic.
IHMO!

Call me crazy, but i'd take a boxster with a hardtop over the coupe any day
That coupe looks great nonetheless.

The only thing 911 about the Cayman is the engine...3.4L flat 6. Like Lux said...it's a boxster chassis..not 911.

Does it come with that 'anti-spy photograph' tape around the headlights?
3 months later and those Japanese look headlights still have not grown on me.
If it does come with the silver tape put me down for yellow/red with BBS RS-GT wheels.
The Cayman: Best Performance for the buck Porsche?
Best Peformance for the Buck Porsche/BMW/Audi/Merc (German) sports car?

Ill play Devil's Advocate here and ask a question, was the GT1 a mid engine 911?
If the Cayman S is everything they say, then I would have no problem saying it is the best bang for your buck Porsche.

I agree totally. The 986/987 was designed from a fresh sheet of paper as a roadster. You can see that the car looks its best with the top down. The 911 on the other hand was a coupe from the get go. If you look at the Cabriolets you can see that they look odd. The rear is out of kilt. I am in love with the 986/987 styling and doubt a whole bunch that I will ever get any Porsche Coupe! We drive the quintessential roadster ever built, Ok I went over the top, a british racing green XK-E still does it for me.

I hope they come out with a Cayman RS6.
1-6 speed manual (only! no tip or paddles)
2-Kevlar seats
3-Harness belt mounting points
4-Light weight Wheels, lightweigh...EVERYTHING!
5-Full Coil over suspension
6-Carrera GT brakes
7-aero kit
8-built in G-tech
9-the most important....a red engine start button.
keep the weight down Porsche it will kick the ass of every other Porsche.
by the way, do you notice the intakes look cheesy on the 987 (like MR2) but look pretty nice on the Cayman. Must be the coloring.

hey I like to visit www.laughatrice.com once a day myself.
But my list of must have's on the Cayman is more in line with what a dedicated racing car would have, as opposed to what PepBoys carries.
