Well, the worst thing we did at my work was paint the sealed floor. The paint constantly gets chipped and damaged, leaving patches of bare concrete.

Have you ever sealed the top fabric? I've had it happen once or twice when it's been wet and humid for several days. 'vert tops aren't impermeable like a steel top, they do "breathe" a bit.
