You can, but you need to be certain the crank has no issues and all of the components are balanced including the clutch and PP.

I have Raby rebuilt 2002 3.8 X51 VCAM+ in a 99 996 chassis.
There should be 2 solenoids one on each side of your engine the trigger the switchover.
Mine uses a MSD 8969 RPM window...

I have the adapter on my car. At Road America I had a bit of an off in Canada corner and dented the filter. If it eas the plastic canister I don't think it would survived.
