I was wondering why the 2.5 feels faster than the 2.7 despite the 2.7 having 10% more hp and 5% more torque. Gear ratio explains it.

that's not a bad idea. I could get a 996 for almost half what my 987 costs. Certainly would be cheaper than trading in the 987 for a 997.

I agree with this. A mechanic blew up the engine on my 986 because of coolant problems. Don't just take it to anyone that claims they know Porsche, take it to the real dealer and just get it fixed...
