I guess it seems a bit high then.... Should I really care about the lack of documentation, as long as I get it into a Porsche mechanic for a PPI? (They want 3 hours to look at it at $88/hr labour).

So what about the 98 that I'm looking at that that 'says' it had an engine replaced due to a sleeve failure? Sounds like this should have never been the case; anomaly?

A random orbital buffer will not give you as good results as a highspeed buffer. Problem is a highspeed is difficult to use (you can actually burn through your paint) so would want to leave that...
