Has the suction mount ever fallen off at speed? Mine has sometimes come off during normal driving,and I think that would be exciting on the track. Perhaps I just have a low quality mount.

My guess is that for the better prices, you need to steer clear of dealers and work with private parties. It's also better as you increase your chance of getting some history to go with the car.
