Monterey Car Week / Pre-Historic Races
The Historic Races at Laguna Seca are an important part of Car Week - and most of the cars, drivers, and owners arrive early - many to run the "Pre-Historic" races this past weekend - some photos (~170) from yesterday at the track and Paddock are posted at www.svautoevents.shutterfly.com
.
off tomorrow to Concours on the Avenue / Carmel, CA (edit / photos from today are up at the same site.....great day! 550, and 356 photos are from of those on the site)...and Friday/Saturday to
Werks Reunion (all Porsche show), and Pacific Grove Concours/Rally, then 'Concours d'Lemons on Saturday....(photos now online @ www.svautoevents.shutterfly.com )
.

List of local specialists ?
Hi, does anyone maintain a list of bay area (esp South bay) specialists - independent or otherwise? Looking for referrals for IMS refit, routine maintenance etc.

There's a few shops in the south bay if you do a search. None off the top of my head and i can't recommend as i don't have experience with any shops. I'd like to know the answer as well to the preferred "go to shop" for Porsche. I'm in the east bay btw.

Kahler's in Dublin
I've been using Kahler's in Dublin for my German cars (BMW, Merc, and now the Boxster). Hourly rate is kind of steep at $165, but they know what they're doing.

Anyone in the east bay have a aftermarket exhaust they're looking to sell? Headers, cat delete, catback Id be interested. or wheels 17 or 18 with at least 8/9 widths.

Do they still do the Boxster Breakfast at Alice's? I haven't met up with the group in ages!

Alice off highway 9? No, I still drive those canyons occasionally though. southbay has all the nice roads. Btw got your PM about the z-top. Would love to check it out the next time I'm down there.
Also I'm looking for someone with a Durametric too. I've had a secondary O2 cel for the past year and need a row/flash done. I can offer a pass side 986 headlight or beer.

Sounds good - PM me next time you're planning to be in the area! I have a Durametric, but they are restricted to only 3 lifetime VIN's, and my allotment is all used up from my previous cars.

Reading this thread brings back old and fond memories of Laguna Seca, Alice's, bay back roads, coastal routes, Northern California, Sierra's, etc. Lived in California for 65 years (born, raised, worked, military, etc) traveling all the roads, places, and sight seeing mentioned. Still belong to Zone 7 and follow Zone 8 activities. Does bring back very fond memories!
A definite trip to the Bay Area and Alice's in the future. Time to uncover and wash the Boxster; need to get some California experiences again.
Enjoyed the comments.
Thanks,
Steve Hurt

THE HISTORICS! Went there first time 3rd Annual Event. They certainly have changed over the years. We would go in later years over a forty year span occasionally; enjoyed every minute of the event. After we moved from Santa Clara, we would go back and stay with brother and sister in laws; commute from Saratoga to Laguna Seca. Really do miss that event; never been to the concourse de elegance. I think it is time to go to Cali.
