How much do the various Boxster S wheels weigh?

By word of mouth, the Carrera 18" is the second lightest Boxster wheel - reportedly the new technos are lighter. Tire weight plays a big part in your total unsprung weight also.

Will 18x11 fit?

Hey - I can talk about them - but looking at them is a different matter - NOT my cup of tea.

I don't see the need for 18x11 even if they fit. I can't spin my 265x18s once they are warm, so who needs a bigger/heavier tire? 18x10s in the front may be in my future, but I don't need wider in the rear.

I need 13in rears like the viper. Dropping the clutch from 7k roasts the tires everytime

I'm not really looking to do any mad clutch drops. My car is bone stock. I just want the look of the 18s w/o losing a bunch of acceleration at an autox. But then again I can always just put super sticky rubber on the 17s and use those as track tires while I get some street wheels. Then again, that's kind of a hassle...

My other concern is how the classes work. If I don't maintain factory sized wheels that takes me out of stock class in SCCA...I imagine the PCA has similar classes for their events.

I do like the Technos on the car, but aren't the rears 18x11?

In SCCA you have to maintain stock width as well as the diameter. Not sure how it works in PCA.

I will keep them in mind. Do you know how much they weigh?

No, I got them right from the Tequipment book for the Boxster S. They are 18x10 in the rear and 18x8.5 in the front. I put on the 5mm spacer kit from the 550 because I like the wider stance and to fill the wheel wells. They are pretty light considering the size.

He he, I was just just goofing around about doing 7k drops. The clutch wouldn't last real long I'm guessing. I do 2,500-3,000rpm drops though if I want a good launch with alittle wheelspin. One time I tried a 4k rpm drop and I got a buttload of wheel-hop or axel tramp, whatever you wanna call it. So I stick to 3k or less if I wanna take rustangs or camaros for a walk. Actually I think some say the fastest way to launch is to rev fairly high...say 5k or so and let the clutch slip some. I don't do this because I feel slipping the clutch would wear it out faster than just doing a dump at less rpm's but I could be wrong. Anyone have any launch tips out there? I may go visit the local strip soon to do a pass or two Sorry if this highjacks this thread. Mods, if you want I'll delete this and start a new thread. Just let me know.

Adam, If you are getting wheel spin (rather than just chirp) you need stickier tires.
