Total of Parts: ≈$6056
Do not take this list as gospel. It is, however, a great foundation as to what youll be getting into if
interested in this conversion.
All prices are estimates and do not include labor or paint. I do not know how to calculate the exact
cost of labor (or paint for that matter), for it will depend on the speed, skill, and efficiency of yourself
or your shop. But my estimate (considering I had other items tended to on the car) would be in the
$750-$1250 for both labor and paint. That puts the total in the $7k range.
Grand Total: ≈$7000 ±$250
If you have any questions about this conversion please feel free to ask. I'll do my best to answer
them.
Please note: I did not perform this work myself, rather it was done by German Technology, Inc
of Euless, TX.

Thanks for posting that, Jeph.
Worth every penny, IMHO !
Interesting that half of the total cost of the parts were just the lights

They can be had on eBay for around $400-700 a set because they only fit on one application, the 02'+ 996. I assume they were so much because he bought them from a dealership new.

Show me that auction because I will buy those for backup. I saw a pair of halogens in a similar style for about $1k. Maybe that's what you saw. I was charged $1445 each, and that's an excellent price in all my research. Dealers want to charge $1900 each. Suncoast was impressive at $1600 a pop.

I was also looking to put 996 bumper on my base boxster, but found out what it would cost and changed my mind. I then wanted to put on an "S" type bumper, which cost the same as a base bumper, but the cost of the grills, trim , ducts and other parts built up quickly, so back on goes the stock bumper...

It looks cool and makes your Boxster unique, nice job. IMO, what makes this blog and the cars fun are the small but often labor intensive styling cues people add to their cars. For me, if I ever drop 6K into the car I want to feel the difference in the driving experience.

Yes, sadly, he did... 325 days ago to the day -not that I'm keeping track. This post makes me miss "Foxy."
My (interim) 330i is ok, but I still want a Porsche 911 so bad.

Me neither but when people do this usually is because of front end collision. You take the insurance money and cover any extra costs on top.

anyone know what it would cost to do this if you did JUST the front bumper and left the lights alone...
i will likely be getting an ew bumper cover for my 986 and have thought of doing the 996 GT3 style bumper, like the bumper on trigems car or the bumper cover on the older 996's with the aero kits...they look a LOT like 986 bumpers but with a deeper set front lower lip... ...so my 986 lights will work just fine...
can you jsut get THAT ubmper cover and stick it on the car or are there all sorts of different fasteners/etc that would make it a $$$ job. my ins will liikely pay for the bumper cover.

The car looks great. Was the original car in an accident or did you just want a new look?
