Cam Sensor out of range bank one

2002 Boxster S Starts and revs, Idles for a few seconds Idle drops runs rough, sputters, when revved a bit does the same thing again. Durametric reads cam sensor out of range bank one.
Replaced cam sensor, same symptoms, same code.
Checked wiring from sensot to ECU, no shorts to other wires, continuity from sensor to ECU connector OK. When ignition turned on I get 5v to the pin at the connector. shoved a needle into the wires by the connector and get continuity from the wirte to the pin, so the connector seem ok.
Sent the brain, lockout unit and key to specialized ECU repairin florida and it checks out ok.
So what would be the next step, or what to test? I've read that a bad cam chain tensioner could cause this?

Deep in the southwest,

Kev

Potential causes:

– Short circuit to B+

Check the connector/wiring.

Check signal wire from DME control module, pin III/20, to CMP sensor for short circuit to B+.

1. Connect special tool 9637 to wiring harness (DME control module connector).

2. Remove connector of CMP sensor.

3. Connect voltmeter to special tool 9637, pin III/20, and ground.

Switch on the ignition.

Display: 0 V

If battery voltage is displayed, check wiring harness for chafing and pinching damage.

What is B+

Do I need the special tool or can I just use a discreet connector to the specific pin.

I have two books and the wiring diagram and do not see B+

I have checked the sensor wires from the sensor to ground, to the DME connector, and to all the other wires on the DME connector

Thank you,
kev

B+ is battery positive or power; OBD II manual instructions I gave you is to see if there is voltage on a circuit that should not have it.
