Oil on top of my engine.

What would cause oil on top of my engine. Got back home from driving, parked my car and when I returned found a big oil spot on ground and a bunch of oil leaked out seemingly from the top of my engine.

could be any number of things. Oil fill tube, drain plug, filter housing, bad seal on oil level sender, etc. also could be overflow from powersteering, making it pentosin, not engine oil.

Leaking oil cooler? Not that I ever heard that happend.

What "quadrant" on top does oil appear to have originated from? For example: front left will likely be power steering over flow. Right rear perhaps oil filler tube.

Did you add any fluids prior to the event?

Oil is on right side rear. It look's like used oil. My oil level was low after finding leak. Added some oil drove it the next day. Could smell oil burn probably from it leaking on top of exhaust system.

depending on whether right to you is passenger or driver, it could be:

Driver: Oil cooler

Passenger: Oil fill tube

OK that means it's the oil filler tube side. Could used oil actually come out of that?

I'm actually chasing a "leak" in that location as well. It's more of a "weep", really, as I can't see anything dripping, but everything gets oily there, and it's finding its way down the side of my motor, across the coil-packs, etc.
On mine, I'm of the opinion it's the Crankcase vent hose. This is the "accordion" hose that connects the left-side camshaft housing to the AOS on the right side. It snakes around across the top of the right-side camshaft housing. Mine is wet with oil all along that length. It didn't smoke when I smoked the engine, but it'd have to get through the AOS or a check-valve to do so.

the Oil Fill tube is further towards the center of the motor, as opposed to the crankcase vent line. I don't think it's my culprit.

Man that makes more sense to me and would explain the used oil possibly. Thanks for info
