Well I cut the airbox in half so its very open now, I can't imagine a bigger airbox would be more efficient for this engine but I could be wrong. There's two kinds of tubing there: one is the air intake which is aluminum piping and forced induction silicon elbows. The hoses are just cooling for the engine, they're not under pressure. The bottom picture gives you a better idea of whats going on.
