Relocated airbox and intake to rear window

I had a minor problem installing a 2.7L engine with a cable throttle, the throttle plate was further back and my intake tube no longer worked. Sure I could have made something work but I decided to pull the whole airbox out of the engine bay instead. OK mostly I was board. I also added some engine cooling ducts.

Why not go for the bigger airbox if doing that? Also what is the flexi hose made of? I have seen flimsy ones collapse under pressure and restrict at and power.

Well I cut the airbox in half so its very open now, I can't imagine a bigger airbox would be more efficient for this engine but I could be wrong. There's two kinds of tubing there: one is the air intake which is aluminum piping and forced induction silicon elbows. The hoses are just cooling for the engine, they're not under pressure. The bottom picture gives you a better idea of whats going on.

Isn't that a low pressure area? Maybe better to have the air enter from the roof. Just thinking out loud..

Ya....it definitely is. We’ll see how it does.

I like it. If you do want a higher pressure location for the intake, start by looking back at the aerodynamics at 180 km that Fred posted.
Boxster 986 Aerodynamics @180km/hr

Or better, just buy the sexy scoop (linked from one of TRK's old posts, the P-bucket links from the Subaru thread don't work well for me.). Bring the air to where you mounted the box.
