Anybody put a 996 gauge cluster in a Boxster?? Is it a straight swap? Are mods required, or is a specific year of 996 required?

Or has anybody added an oil temp & oil pressure gauges to their Boxster??

With the 3.4 going in, I think it might be nice to have that info.

If I can remember correctly you can not reset or adjust the mileage on the cluster. So whatever you put in would have mileage from the car it was pulled from.

It does not sounds easy. I actually PM'ed Tool pants asking him about this a few days ago but he didnt respond to me.

It is quite simple as long as you get the correct year 996 cluster (this depends on the year of your boxster) and make sure it isn't a cluster from a C4 or Turbo. I added the gauges when I did my swap. All you need is to add a single pin to one connector and run it to the 996 oil sender and all the functions on the 996 cluster will work.

400-to 500 bucks. And you dont get oil temp, which is real nice to have to know when you can put your foot down.

I am currently devising a oil pressure & oil temp (and potentially volt meter) VDO gauge setup to add to a Boxster. I am going to do it for my car, and see how it goes.

I wonder if any Boxster owners would be interested in buying a prepackaged gauge kit for their car?????????
