GAHH top window failure

My 99 Boxster has a black replacement top by GAHH.

The seam is failing significantly at the top and bottom of the window. I've heard and Pedro has confirmed, they were replacing these tops under warranty as they are failing. When I emailed, I received this.

"Thank you for the photos.

This Boxster top in your photo has our first window bonding system going back from 1999 through 2006, which was heat-sealed with sewn piping around window edge and had a five (5) year warranty.

In 2008 we redesigned our window bonding system, which eliminated the sewn piping around window edge and named it UltraMaxx with a lifetime warranty.

Current price on a replacement top is $975.00 in original German A5 canvas, as a goodwill we will offer a 15% discount bring total to $828.75."

I don't think 15% is fair for a top that's failing, and has been garaged it's whole life. I want a replacement

Here's pics of the top where it's failing.

Garage
It sucks, but

take what you can get.

You are being offered a goodwill discount on a new lifetime roof to replace a product that at best has been out of warranty for 7 years.

A top shop will sew it up

Considering that you can get a plastic window installed for $500, it must cost less to have them sew this back up (better than their cheap offer).

I don't think you are going to get a lot of sympathy. The warranty expired years ago and the top has paid it's dues. If you feel abused, take your business elsewhere.

I have an 01 top, the plastic window is pretty murky, the top is on a to do list. I'm going to replace it with a glass windo model. Smaller window but much more permanent. The top they're offering is a lifetime warranty. If you keep the car long enough, think of it as two or more tops for the price of one. 15% off doesn't look like such a bad deal.
