is engine 360deg off?

I had both sets of my cam shafts off the car at one time. When cylinder one is TDC compression both cam index marks face in and the Porsche tool 9624 doesn't fit in. rotate 360 and both index marks are facing out but 1 is not on compression and tool fits. is that correct? or did i screw something up? i took my compression tester and the firing order was 1-6-2-4-3-5 as it should be.

There are written procedures for this in the service manual. With that said you need to loosen cams/sprockets on one side with the cams on that side locked down with the tool, and rotate the engine one rev. Then tighten everything back up.

PS: it's a little more complicated than that so follow the manual step by step.

thanks for the reply. All i have is the Bentley manual and the procedure for that. since both index marks are lined (both facing out at same time) up out doesn't that mean i need to do both cams?

i should have titled this is the timing correct? with 9624 tool installed on bank 1 the two notches on the cams face out but my compression tester shows no pressure for cylinder 1. with the 9624 tool installed on bank 2 the notches face in and the compression tester holds pressure on cylinder 1.
