I need spacer recommendations, please.

I've poked around, but as far as I can tell nobody else has done these wheels on a Boxster. I'm trying to get a retro kind of look, and I've settled on 16" 928 manholes. I have them on the car and I like the look. I'm getting some rubbing up front in tight turning, but otherwise no clearance issues. I'd like to push them out, though:

If I've Googled correctly, the stock wheels on a '99 are:

6J X 16 @ 50 mm (front)
7J X 16 @ 40 mm (rear)

And 928 manholes are:
7 X 16 @ 65 mm (all)

If I did my math correctly, I need 25mm spacers at the rear and 15mm at the front. And, looking at them on the car, that seems about right.

These are for street driving only. I'm going to pick up a set of 17s for track days.

So, here are my questions:
  1. 25mm sounds like a lot. Is it too much?
  2. I'm planning on putting on a set of H&R sport springs with a 1"-1.25" drop. Opinions on if this will lead to rubbing with the 25mm/15mm spaces?
  3. Is there anything I've forgotten or should consider?

Thanks in advance!

Nice tool. It took me 20 minutes of clicking to figure out what it was telling me, but I got it eventually.

Thanks for the input!

You're in the footprint of my PCA region, are you in the club?

Maybe it's because of the green car, but I like the 928 look on this car. Really needs those spacers though!

I ordered them Friday. They should be here in a day or two. I'll post up new pics once they're on.

Got them a couple days ago and they went on easily. No more rubbing in the wheel wells and they look a lot better!

Shaun your car looks nice with the spacers and the 928 wheels :-)
One question, did you order as well longer wheel bolts, to compensate the spacers..?

Did you put 25mm flat spacers on with long lug bolts? I wouldn't think that to be a long term solution. To use that much spacer you need those with their own lugs and lug nuts. Even that causes more wear to wheel bearings, but flat spacers of that size might be considerably worse. I run 25mm spacers on mine but only with my winter wheels, which don't get as much wear.

If you wanted retro, the look of the rear wheels in your first (pre-spacer) pic has a very 356 vibe.

I thought so as well, but I prefer to the look with the spaces, and everything does fit and move better.
