Tires for 18" square setup

I am thinking of trying an 18" wheel "square" setup. What would be the best choice in tire size for theis. The calculators say that an 245/40/18 is a little tall but a 245/35 is too short. The best seems to be a 255/35/18 but will they work in front?

THanks

A friend of mine with a 996 runs 255/35/18 in the front, it fits but barely. He is on stock suspension, which I am relatively sure is about the same as ours in the front. He runs 315/30/18 on the back

245/40/18 won't fit in the front of a 986 with the OEM struts (at least on an 8" wheel, maybe a wider wheel would flatten it out more?) - the tire hits the lower spring perch and you would have to run a huge spacer to push it out far enough, to where I don't think it would be safe. Folks with aftermarket coilovers like the PSS9 can run 245/40/18 in the front.

I was thinking of doing the same thing but only because I have 4 8" SSR GT3s that have been sitting for 10 years. I don't think I would want 235/40s all around though. I have M030. Which is a tad lower so I would have the same issue probably with 245s in front. Glad someone posted this. Guess I'll do 255/35 and 225/40s
