CA and the other 49

I bought an original CA car ( 2002 , S) just kind of curious what the emission differences were? IE- did the CA car make less power, are there things that can be done to make it a "other49" car? Does it matter , ? am I overthinking the whole thing?

Love the forum, I'm sure you will be hearing from me in the not to distant future..:.

I don't think there's any difference between a CA car and the other 49 only because I've never heard of anyone talking about a difference. That's a new one to me if there is a difference

No difference to my knowledge. Manufacturers moved away some time ago from building cars to meet CA standards separate from the other 49 and started building all cars to met the toughest emissions requirements which is usually CA.

Some states and some areas in California (Lake County for example) do not require emissions tests and more importantly the visual inspection which flunks any modification to the car that does not have an EPA sticker on it. In most of CA that eliminates most modifications that would potentially increase performance unless they have passed EPA standards.

All Boxster's (all years) are 50-State emissions legal. They are all the same in all states.

There are differences between US and ROW cars.
