See pic below. I am doing an experiment soon with an oil filter sandwich plate with oil pressure and oil temperature sensors to compare them with the oil temp/pressure I am getting from the sensors that I have installed in the valve covers. I read a thread on P9 that said the valve cover is not a good place for an oil pressure gauge sensor because it is far downstream and is not representative of the pressure that the main crank and bearings are seeing. In my car, the pressure reading from this location dips on any sort of right hand turn, even at low speed/low gees. I am trying to determine if that is the oil pickup sucking air or some other factor, since it only happens on right turns and the sensor is in the front of the right valve cover. Running another sensor shortly after the oil pump might give me a better view into whether I am losing pressure in turns due to the oil pickup being uncovered or not.
I need somewhere to connect a wire to ground that is down near the oil filter housing, and my gauge wires are going to be running right past this boss anyway on the way to going up the firewall and through the center tunnel to my gauges.
This boss looks perfect, if it is threaded. Does anyone happen to know if it is threaded and if so what size?
I don't have the car jacked up yet so there may be lots of other good candidates under there
But if anybody knows about this boss I would appreciate it.
