Pinning IMS Gears

Hey Guys,

I'm looking for info on pinning the IMS gears. I've seen it done a few different ways, but I'm not really sure what's correct. Based on the image below (found online), it looks like the gears are independent and both need to be pinned?

Yes, but before then are pinned (or welded), the gears need to be indexed (checked to make sure the both are in the correct position, as they can move on the shaft).

Thanks! Does the shaft need to be balanced after?

The IMS tube is surprisingly thin, the gear sprockets are thick and a different alloy from the tube. So this job is not one for a novice with their cheapo MIG welder(like me !).
If you use a set screw make very sure to use the correct grade of Loctite. Can you imagine if it loosened and fell out?
Consider shipping it to someone who has done hundreds of these ? Ask here for referrals.

I'd send it to LN Engineering and have them do their 3 row bearing while they are in there.

LN did mine with the 3 row bearing. If I recall the set screw went down between the sprockets at each end.
