Basically I'm looking at putting some buttons into the dash to operate footwell lights, rear spoiler, etc. But the prices for the real buttons is very high (£32 for the footwell light button). I'm thinking of buying one of those, removing the emblem, and printing a new one onto it (properly).

Yes it can be done. Sand the black layer carefully down until the milky white layer is visible. Create a stencil, spray black paint over it and afterwards a clear coating. That's it.
