Dash buttons

You know the white logos on the dashboard buttons... is it possible to remove them either through solvent or gentle scraping?

Basically I'm looking at putting some buttons into the dash to operate footwell lights, rear spoiler, etc. But the prices for the real buttons is very high (£32 for the footwell light button). However, the price of the more common buttons (such as rear window heater) is very low, and they're quite common. I'm thinking of buying one of those, removing the emblem, and printing a new one onto it (properly).

Could it be done?

Not sure, could you just paint them glossy black?

No. The white is absence of black.
The switches are white with a black coating. The black coating is absent where the icons are so that the light shows through.

Yes it can be done. Sand the black layer carefully down until the milky white layer is visible. Create a stencil, spray black paint over it and afterwards a clear coating. That's it.

Very cool! Matt black spray with Matt lacquer would do the trick. It's filing it down and not damaging the white base layer. I'll see if I can find a cheap switch
