Talking ims and tiptronic

thank you all for your input. very helplful. I can move on from the shifting and focus on the IMS. car is fine, but will watch metal flakes and talk to mechanic about when to address the IMS issue.

It`s normal not to downshift to 1st. I read that too but the trans really isnt what causes the IMS failure.If you can afford it get it done.

Boxtertoy,
If you are keeping the car you should address the IMS BEFORE you find metal chips, because once you get them, it May Be Too Late...

Once debris is found its too late to use any of our products... Because the engine won't pass the mandatory pre- evaluation. Retrofitting an engine with a failing bearing is almost certain death for the replacement component.

So far no metal it seems but I found a porsche mechanic who works on amazing porsche he will do the retrofit next week cheap insurance for an excellent car

Great call..! And since you don't need a new DMFW or clutch assembly, the repair should be (price wise) more manageable.
