'99 Boxster Radio Alarm - To Ground or Not?

Since changing out the radio on my 1999 Boxster, from the stock to an Alpine, my car alarm has been going off intermittently.

From reading the 101Project book and other posts, it is suggested that you ground the alarm wire. However other posts show that you should remove the wore from the switch and tape it (ie. Leave it open, not grounded). Another post suggests putting some duct tape along the left side of the radio.

So, I am kind of confused.

Has anyone had this issue and solved it and found that their solution definitely fixed the problem?
