Well, not really self heal. Let me explain.
My 99 Boxster had two issues I was hoping to fix yesterday, and I inadvertently apparently did something to a third issue.
- Issue 1 is that my turn signals would not self-cancel.
- Issue 2 was that my OBD was activated (outside temp showing) but I had no 4th stalk to operate the other functions.
- That 3rd issue was my airbag warning light was on, and had been on since the previous owner removed the seats with the battery connected, which fires an airbag light.
I found a used stalk assembly with the magical 4th stalk, and followed one of the DIY guides on this forum to do the swap. This involves pulling the steering wheel, which of course means pulling the airbag. It also means disconnecting the battery. Between interruptions for other things, the battery wound up being disconnected for about 6 hours while I did the swap.
So when I was finished:
- My turn signals work and cancel correctly
- My OBC is fully functional
- And unexpectedly, my airbag light is gone.
The first two I was expecting, the airbag light going off was not expected.
The airbag light is also not coming on as part of the starting procedure. If I turn my key to "run" but not to "start" I get the whole plethora of waring lights illuminated, but not the airbag light. Is this normal?
Thanks in advance for your help!
