Well, if all else fails, read the manual. According to the owners manual, not seeing the Airbag light come on during starting is not a good thing. It implies, but doesn't say outright, that the airbag system is probably inop when no light comes on.
Hoping the bulb just got disturbed while I had the cluster pulled.
