P1601 code

Im looking at a 04 996 and when I check for codes I got

P1601
Porsche fault code 660 - CAN timeout - instrument cluster

Anything to worry about?

The seller said he checked and it had to do with the battery going flat before he replaced it

Just want to make sure I'm not being fed a line of bull

Any aftermarket LED lights on the 996 you are looking at? Could be the issue.

It may be from a battery issue, but there are other potential sources as well. Normally, we would clear it and see if it returns before becoming concerned on a car in use, but I would be very circumspect about buying a car with the code active. You have to ask yourself why the current owner did not clear it if all it is was a bad battery..........
