Tackled the top yesterday

I swapped out my old top for a cheapo eBay unit this weekend and it all it took about 4 hours. Which included a 12 pack of beer, finding 1 dog and returning it to it's owner, a cigar and a few other sidetracks. All in all not bad, my girl friend who has never worked on a car pretty much handled the passenger side if that gives you an idea

Wow

Looks great, you make it seem like it really was not that big of a job. Pelican compares it to pulling the engine in terms of difficulty. Can I ask why you decided to not go with a rear glass window ?

Great job and you earned my respect! Replacing a top is one big ol' mean job.

Wow. Great job. The canvas is perfectly smooth. That looks better than mine which was installed by a pro.

It doesn't use the same skill set as swapping an engine or a typical mechanical task so for Pelican their huge mechanical experience and tool set doesn't really help them, which also explains why my girl friend had about as trouble as I did with the top.

Can I borrow your girlfriend to help do my top as well

May I can get my girlfriend and yours to do the entire job and we can just sit back and work on beers.

What would you say was the hardest part of the job?
I have to do mine soon as well and I have been debating the options, sewing in a new plastic window or a new glass top or new plastic top.

I like the visibility of the plastic top so I'm leaning on going that route as well.

Your's turned out perfect and it looks great with your blue paint.

Brand/link to the top you used?

What instructions did you follow, set that came with top, Pelican etc?

Wow, that's impressive. I've taken the top assembly off and swapped with another forum member but replacing the skin its laborious.
