Question 2.7 Exhaust

Hi all, I have just purchased my first Boxster 2.7 on an 03 plate, this morning when I jumped in it and drove off there was a bad rattling sound like someone had tied on a baked bean can and I was dragging it along! I stopped and had a look but could find nothing loose and the noise seemed to be coming from inside the exhaust, has anyone else experienced this and if it is indeed the exhaust can anyone suggest a replacement?

Thanks in advance

check the heat shields on the catalytic convertors.
they usually get loose.

Thanks Meir, I will check them today.

If it's not the heat shields, check the catalytic converters, the innards detach and rattle around inside. Also check both hangers on the front of the back box, one of mine snapped. It took me ages to find this as it looked like it was still in one piece plus it only rattled when it got hot.

While you are under the car, check to see if the lambda sensors are tight plus the spark plugs are tight, they have a tenancy to come undone.
