Thanks! I'll try that for sure. I've only had this car since November, and it's under a cover in my garage until spring, so I have plenty of time to change gear oil AND the engine mount.

The second gear grind is a common problem with the 6 speed tranny.
Mine was terrible when I got the Boxster three years ago, and would even pop out of gear sometimes. Replacing the front mount improve things tremendously, but did not eliminate it. Still get a grind, but only occasionally. I have started to pause a little between the 1-2 shift to let the gears match speed more before sticking it into 2nd. This seems to help a lot and I always double clutch when down shifting. I have a 107k on the car, 2000 S .
