Show some of your Porsche only Tools!

I work on a couple of different cars and I seem to have some vehicle specific tools. many of which I cannot seem to do without. I was thinking about it today and was thinking... what Porsche specific tools do you have that you could not finish the job without it?

For example I'm installing another transmission (Automatic this time) and for whatever stupid reason Porsche decides to put a twelve point cap screw on one of the bell-housing bolts!

So of course, I have to buy a tool that I only have to use when working on Porsche.

Could be impressive to see a community of P car enthusiasts that has an "Exchange Tools" scheme going onto this forum - would be a first I believe.

Often it does require the DIY'er some pretty bizarre looking and pricey tools to get some jobs done. The member could Request for Rent a tool in a dedicated section of the forum and get on with it by only dealing with Inbound/Outbound shipping cost + a deposit to the owner.

I guess there must be a fear of loaning out tools or something.. well let me show another... A cheap home made one so hopefully we can see some more home made items... its a spark plug tube removal tool. I made it because the transom plug idea does not work for the super stuck tubes.

Simple yet effective...

It would make more sense for say Pelican Parts to rent out tools albeit at a high rate.
The borrower would get charged full value price initially on say credit card and rebated all except for useage fee when the tool was returned.

Doing it privately you risk not getting your tool back.......I hate to see a grown man cry.

I'd probably rent out my IMS tool.

Paypal $325 deposit $100 two week rental. $225 return when tool is returned in same condition as sent.

Just have to make sure I don't need it when it is rented out. Which almost always happens when you have a tool you do not use and it is loaned out

I had to use this lug remover on 4 lugs since the person I bought the car from could not find the lug key.

Its 1/2" drive and has 2 sockets for various types of locking lugs and a bar to hammer the lug out of the socket after your done.

Does not mar the rim at all, but chews up the locking lug a bit.

Takes a couple seconds per lug so people who think wheel locks can prevent theft...Nope...dream on!

I'd sell or rent it since I'll likely never need it again.

Dude. We're a community here. There are many that offer their IMSB tools for free, no deposit, just on the word of a known poster. I can see asking for a deposit, to make sure you get your parts back, but $100 rental fee? How much have you saved by the collective knowledge on this forum? And you want to hit our posters up?

Actually, unlike the majority on this board, Wrenching is not a hobby... it's how I make my money, loaning out my tools that I make my money with is... well kind of foolish, especially if it is to someone who has not used it before.

If you like to purchase the tools for us to borrow for free, I'll be one of the first in line, there is a plenty of stuff I like to borrow...

I have to side with healthservices on this one. I used to lend tools but I got fed up with them being returned dirty, broken or not returned at all. It pisses me off when I have to phone someone to ask if they are done with that tool I lent them two months ago, and then have to go pick it up myself because they can't be bothered to bring it back.

When I need a tool, I buy it, and I usually try to buy the best quality one I can find. Anyone who would rather borrow tools than buy their own should at least contribute a few bucks to the wear and tear on the tool. Those of us who buy tools know very well how expensive they are and appreciate them. Those that want to do everything for cheap or free generally do not.

My recent experience buying a set of rims from a member of our "community" has given me good reason to question placing my trust in someone simply because they happen to be a member of this forum.

Okay yesterday I did a front motor mount and forgot I made this tool to push out the bushing rather than to buy a whole assembly...
