Do you have the blue single wire plugged into the bottom of the Alt.?

Did you go back together with the 987C large AOS? People tend to call it the "Motorsports" AOS but Porsche Motorsports has nothing to do with it
It reaches the starter easily. The alternator has a plug (not sure of the wire color, but it is plugged in, the high amp wire, and the red wire.

I replaced the AOS with the same as it had. Is there any other way for oil to get into the manifold? There was so much oil on top of the engine that it created an oil slick behind the car as it sloshed off. It appeared to be coming mainly from the butterfly valve in the forward manifold tube.

I don't build ANY 02-up 3.6's/3.8's or 03-04 2.7's/3.2's without the larger AOS Porsche sells!!

Look at your current AOS. Now nearly double it's holding capacity. This gives the oil more time to drain back BEFORE being sucked up through the diaphragm and into the plenum. They are stupid pricey.. but stupid worth it

I'm surprised the red wire reached. Makes me wonder if something else in the system is not routed correctly?? You'll find out later!! LOL

The wire reached because I was missing a wire harness standoff /clamp that allowed it to reach. Now that the standoff and clamp are properly installed, it would not reach. Being a newbie, I'm stll leaning, and on the positive side, I've learned a lot! So far no mystery bolts or parts (thanks in part to this forum). If I ever get the clutch alignement tool I ordered in late December (with 2 day shipping) , I can re-install the transmission and transaxle and fire it up

Find a socket that fits the disc.. barely tighten the PP, line it up with your *eyechrometer" , then tighten the PP the rest of the way.

I haven't used the tool "ever" on the 996/986/997/987.

You think we carry "all" the tools with us to the track? NO.

Line it up, stab it.

I wish I had your calibrated eye and experaince. I tried lining it up by eye complete with having the transmission and transaxle balanced on a hook wiith the engine lined up on a jack. No go after several tries. I dont want to booger the roller bearing or its seal in the flywheel so I'm being a bit of a small feline about forcing it, especially since I'm new and don't know the limits. If the tool does not show tomorrow, I'll get more aggressive.
