Top transmission question

I got the transmission apart and the plastic gear is cracked. So its my understanding that just the plastic gear is not available separately? Really. So now I have to spend hundreds for the entire transmission?

You can get the entire transmission used, but they are still pricey, in the $200+ range. New they are like $700 from porsche.

So the right hand transmission is toast, but the left hand plastic gear has a crack but its not all the way across the gear yet. I drilled two small holes at the ends of the cracks to hopefully stop the crack from propagating. Is this going to work or am I wasting my time.
