I know Porsche is known for being more expensive, but $4,600 seems like a lot for 25WHP.

A set of Litronic headlights can run 2k+...for headlights!!!
Gotta watch those indy mechanics and things like paint shops, too. Once they see that it is a Porsche they will try to jack up the prices on labor.

I think its awfully pricey and that's not even labor in there.
You will notice a difference though.

Excluding labour you can get exhaust, manifolds, tb, intake, remap from circa £1,000 which is roughly USD$1,600 which gets you circa 25whp. That's what I did and most of my kit came off ebay.

If you want sound than any eBay exhaust will do. Best bang for the buck is a set of 150 dollar eBay headers with no cats and set of good high flow cats with stock exhaust.

No interest. There are a lot of things I have done/would do to my car but this is not one of them.

Id like to add some power, some responsiveness, but 4600 bucks is more than a third of what I paid for the car.
Someone should remind these tuners that most of these cars aren't 70k anymore.

27 hp will barely register on the butt dyno. Why the obsession with increasing hp on Boxsters, where the cost per hp is so high? It will never beat anything ina drag race.

The Box is best in the corners. And even out of the box, the handling and brakes are so good that you really have to go to the track to to experience the Boxsters advantage, going fast around corners.

+1 on this. You want HP, buy the newest Boxster. Seems like they give you just enough HP on the latest version, to edge by the competition. So a 7-10 year old boxster falls way short. Enjoy the car for what it is, fast in the corners like mentioned or open up your wallet. Intake and mufflers does nothing unless you change the trottle body. And that does little unless you flash the ecu. It just keeps going but that is a great mod.

Summary here Tuned/modified 2000 Boxster S with a link to a more detailed thread in the first post.

I am doing the same again this time with a 550 Anniversary and the addition of replacement sports cats and perhaps a different silencer.

Aside from a bit more go the other benefit to me is a better sounding Boxster that sounds more like a sports car should.

The sad part is most of these tunes reduce throttle response and torque as their tuners only look for peak HP gains, for advertisement.

We very seldom, if ever find any gains from any of this stuff on our engines, even the Stage I and most Stage II. In fact until we build one of our3.2 based 3.8L engines I don't even consider using any of these goods.

95% of what we build leaves here with stock intake, stock exhaust and a minimum of 40HP more output than stock, with even more torque, more throttle response with a broader power band.

Pretty much unless a car arrives with these "tuned" items, we don't use them. We don't need them and true development and application has proven this.

The words "Porsche" and "Cheap" or "Reasonable" never seem to appear together very often. One of the options to have on a 993 are "Sport Seats" which have hardbacks, they command $5k to $10k a pair here, a well known vendor in Europe has some new OEM's for sale, only $20k:

If you want "Cheap" power, buy anything with a GM LS motor in it.

21 ft/lb is very obvious in a 2800 lb car!
