Here you go ...
http://986forum.com/forums/general-discussions/41987-3-2s-winter-rebuild-scotland.html Really nice restoration. If I can find the right 911 at the right price so I can have "a car to work on and a car to drive" as I discussed with my wife, I'd like to do something like this. Tear it down, clean it, refurbish it, and make it look & feel like a new car. Only real problem I'll have is finding a place to do it. Where I am now, the garage is a bit small to accomadate the restoration. |
Pulled off the oil sump cover to clean it up. On inspection, it was clean with no evidence of metal or grime.
Anyone know if Curil-T is a suitable sealant for mating the sump cover back to the engine? http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1369976520.jpg Here's LN Magnetic Drain Plug http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1369976551.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1369976629.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1369976660.jpg |
hi Dr.
the correct sealant is loctite 5900. |
I wouldn't risk using the Curil-T for the sump plate. Best sealant is Drei Bond 1209 #000 043 203 73 available at some Porsche dealers. M96 sump plate is easy to seal & I also use Permatex Ultra Grey available at most any auto parts store for about $7.

Today I got a few more odds and ends finished up.
I upgraded the oil cooler to the larger "S" unit. Will also be installing the center radiator for added cooling. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1370317134.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1370317241.jpg I also had modified the intake tube be removing the "intake muffler" and sealing the hole with a piece of scrap plastic left from the OEM air intake box I had removed. I used JB weld to secure the plastic patch in place. Worked quite nicely. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1370317368.jpg Cold air intake complete! Well, until I install the super charger in a few months. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1370317403.jpg Lastly, I got my exhaust back in and all buttoned up. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1370317490.jpg |
