It depends entirely on how capable a driver you are as to whether or not the 17x 7 will do it as a track wheel on a Boxster. If you are anything short of expert then they will be fine. Until recently, when it became legal to run the square setup, all specboxsters ran on these very wheels and people achieved some pretty heroic times.

I presume you are using these because you already have them or can get them very cheap. If not, and your choice is open, then you may want to consider going to 8.5s (ie the stock rear) or maybe even 18s.

5mm BTW can very easily be resolved with a spacer.
