Exhaust again..

I have had a stock 2.5 muffler, GHL, Mille Miglia and have been running for the past few years a stock S muffler. I also run turbo werx headers and fabspeed high flow cats. I came across this system on clearance on an auction site. Turns out JIC is no longer producing there systems. There was a post not too long ago that the person who bought one of the JIC systems was very happy with it and it did not produce notable drone. It fit great and sounded the part.

I came across this system that I have never seen before that is also made by JIC. I think it may have been a newer never released model or prototype. It looks to run chambered mufflers and the weld and design look great! So low and behold it will be here on Tuesday. You can be sure a full write up with pics video etc.. to follow. Please let me know what you think and anything you want me to cover as I once again put up another exhaust system.

Here are some shots of it.

Looks good. I'm guessing those are 2" or - 2.5" inlet/outlet diameters . Nice !

Yea, it looks pretty diesel. I like that fact that it also looks like it unbolts from the ends so you do have to mess with your settings once its in if you want to remove it for any reason.

Skrap, it will be staying here for now. I Like to keep some options if this is too loud or anything for my liking.

Skrap,

I have a spare S muffler in excellent condition if you are looking for one. Make me a reasonable offer (I'm thinking $100) and pick up the cost of shipping and it's all yours.

So the JIC has arrived. I must say that not much anymore impresses me. This exhaust is Flippin Sweet to the looks at least so far. 3" tips, great welds, 2 3/8" piping, stainless steel. AND THE KICKER. The mufflers are chambered, not straight through. This could sound great with out drone. Could is the key word. Enjoy the pics for now. Going on the car with in the next hour. My other muffler is off already so I need about 20 minutes bolt on time. I'll get sound up asap and more pics.

Here is the video. The exhaust is not fully hung yet as I will be buttoning it up in a little while. The video sounds ok at best. There is such a deep tone to it. It sounds unlike any other exhaust i have heard. Password is 986 to see the video.

If Skrap is not interested I might be.
I have 2001 base. Can you tell me what the S muffler would do for me if anything at all?

Thanks in advance.

Jaay,

Where did you find that exhaust? Might be a race version which might be louder than the CROSS exhaust I installed back in May. The size of the piping looks the same. CROSS is the JIC's European products division. I love the sound of mine although I've never heard it from outside the car. It's not loud at all and there is very miminal drone between 2-3K. I want to install test pipes but afraid it will get unfavorably louder.

I found it direct from JIC on ebay. He didn't say what is was made for, street or track. It is not that loud. I also have headers and high flow cats and 3.4ltr. So it will sound much different than most. I have to do some bracket magic on it later on if I get time. I am running a cayman tranny so the bracket is a tad different. I just have to drill two holes and adjust a hanger on the muffler. All and all it fits great. Just some tweaking. I can't take it out for a ride right now. Waiting on a new Coolant tank and cap. I should be up and running tomorrow morningish.

I noticed now that you have a 996 engine. CROSS does have some discontinued exhausts for the 996 still on their website. Unfortunately, the JIC distributor in CA doesn't carry the 986 exhausts anymore. Good quality exhausts IMO. Looking forward to your feedback after your runs.

Yea, 996 exhaust wouldn't help me much due to a different layout. I'll let you know about my drone situation as soon as I get it back together and filled up with coolant.
