Cut Brake wire... Do I need it?

Greetings on my first inspection I found this wire tucked out of the way apparently monitoring stray voltage or something vague.

Can anyone tell me what it does and what I should do with it? This is a 2001 Boxster S and it is located on the Rear Left tire well. This is the only brake pad sensor that had two wires coming from the bulk head.
