brakes!! What to buy?

So my red Brake warning light just came on, and it looks like my rear pads are wiped out!

I hadnt really budgeted buying an expensive set of brakes right now, so I was wondering if I could get some guidence on what to buy? Normal parts store brake pads work fine and turning the rotors ( no scarring on the rotors). Another option I see is ebay has some "sets" of brake pads and drilled/slotted rotors for pretty cheap but Im unsure how good the brake pads perform in those sets.

I kind of want to get the drilled rotors for the look, Im leaning towards just buying rotors from there, and sourcing a performance set of brake pads from a reputable name like carbotech or EBC etc.

I have Carbotech xp-10's and xp-8's on the front/rear for the track and they're fantastic. A bit noisy for the street though unless you have no shame.

I used Akebono ceramics on another car for the street and loved them. Good bite and no dust.

Unfortunately, neither will qualify as inexpensive.

Yah this will be a street car, so no-squeak pads are a must for me.

I just put on a set of Mintex pads, the cheapest that Pelican sells for about $110, and they work great. They are GF coefficient of friction which is getting close to track pad stopping power. Very good initial bite. Very little brake dust, about the same as the Brembos that were on it.

I had just the slightest squeal for the first couple of weeks but now that has gone away. I'll see how they work on the track in a couple of weeks.

If my car needed brakes, I'd go with Carbotech's street compound (don't plan to track this car). I've used Carbotech pads extensively on my MR2, and they are very good pads. I've got a set of Akebono pads on my wife's 330xi, and those have worked well.

Affordable drilled rotors - $115 per pair. Very good. I use these on my car which is tracked a lot and they work fine. Beware that ANY swiss cheese style drilled rotor will ultimately get cracks that eminate from the holes. The swish-style drilled rotors are much less prone to this problem.

thanks, im going to go with the drilled rotors. Still deciding on pads.

Do i have to replace any brake sensors since my light is on

Yes, if the brake sensor light is on then at least one of your sensors is gone.
