Instrument Cluster (S on a Base)

Hi,

Can I install an S instrument cluster on a base ? (both Tiptronic, both 2001)

I don't think you'll have any problems since they are both the same year -- I believe there are 2 versions of the cluster one for 2000 & earlier, one for 2001 & later.

I'd have considered a 996 cluster to get oil pressure...

How does the odometer get changed when a new instrument panel is installed ? Can the PTS2 do it ?

I think.... the odometer is stored in the brain not the panel. It shouldn't matter.

Wayne's write up gives you a "yes" on needing a PTS2 to update the mileage on the ODO, and you have to do it within 50 miles of the change:
