I'm about to start on changing out my rotors and pads, and I will also be painting the calipers while it's apart.

The car has about 125K km (about 78K miles) and has not been winter-driven. At present, the brakes don't stick, pull, squeal or seem in any way defective, except for the pads and rotors being at their wear limits.

How many would want to rebuild the calipers as part of the job? Or would you just paint them and put it all back together?

Inspect the calipers for torn boots, if they are torn then definitely rebuild. If the pistons push back easily when you change the pads, I wouldn't rebuild.

That's the way I'm leaning. I have the calipers off and the pistons are smooth as silk, the boots are fine, and there was no leakage.

+1 ^ Calipers seem to last forever. Use the extra money and time to replace the water pump and/or AOS.

Well, I've already done the waterpump, and the AOS ain't broke yet either, but I can buy a nice steak dinner for me and the missus for what the seal kits would have cost me.

You might as well purchase a set of front S calipers and rotors to reduce the downtime.

I did just that and got mine powder coated. But to me it's worth it because it's a more durable method than paint which will wear off and you'll have to repaint them again.
