Lock cylinder broken

Recently I had the lock cylinder break or at least it seems. The key turns freely in the lock. Both doors lock using the lock button in the car which has me a little confused. I thought if the cylinder was broken likely the door wouldn't lock at all. Is there an easy fix for this? I get the feeling this will require a dealership visit

the lock and the cylinder are two different mechanism.

this is the cylinder (part 15):
Porsche Boxster Door Handle Parts

this is the lock it self (part 14):
Porsche Boxster Door In White Parts

if you look at part 15, you will see a shaft coming out of it.
maybe that's the broken part.
this way or the other, take off the door cover and have a look.
your lock mechanism is definitely good, if you can lock and unlock by using the button.

Hi, I disassembled the lock cylinder/paddle/spring last week and ordered the $22 metal ring that was broken. I am now trying to reassemble the paddle and spring to the lock cylinder and I'm having difficulty. Can anyone share info on reassembly?

I wish I had taken some pics...but with the broken part I'm not sure the alignment would have been correct anyway.

I had to fix the whole thing 2 years ago. Go to pelican. I seem to remember one of their articles on the subject. The spring was a pain. I also remember pushing in the paddle to release the ring. I even change the tumblers from 1 lock to the other. I was a little concerned but it all worked out.
