Banging off the redline is fine as long as you don't mind the event being recorded in the cars data base. Too many events look a lot like abuse. My Tip is smarter than me, by shifting at 6,200 the engine is always in the sweat spot of the rpm range and the maximum power is utilized right at the shift points.

Anything beyond 6,200 rpm's and the engines power noses over...at the same time my Tip is shifting into the next gear and accelerating faster.

As for that redline, all I have to do is go into manual and test that rev limilter anytime.
