I would follow extanker's advice. I'm not sure where you got your info but my 2000 3.2S Maintenance booklet calls for plugs to be changed every 30k miles or 48k km.

does it really make a difference? i have been debating on doing this too. i have 70k on mine and don't know if it was changed before. but the car runs fine. no kicking or sputtering. therefore i assume that it really won't make a difference if i change the plugs or not. am i completely stupid?

I would just change them out at the recommended interval even if the car is running fine. Plugs aren't that expensive and since you've been driving on your plugs for so long you might not notice any degradation in performance over the years. Plus pulling the plugs and inspecting them will tell you what the motor is doing inside. Also if you live in the salt belt and drive in the winter it's a good idea to replace them to keep them from seizing onto your heads.

Don't forget to swap out the tubes and gaskets too since you're right there. Usually one or more of them is cracked from the heat.
