Spark plug change

Hi, according to my handbook the spark plugs on my Boxster 3.2S should be changed every 4 years or 48,000 miles. However the last change was 4 years ago but the car has only done 28,000 in that time.
Should i change them? the car starts & runs fine.

No. I waited until my car has 65k mile before I did mine. If the car runs fine, wait.

one of the reasons you change them time wise is to prevent them from freezing in the head. maintenance can be "what comes first"....time or miles. you wont be a happy camper if a plug cold welds in the head. do the plugs call for anti-seize,they should be torqued

I would follow extanker's advice. I'm not sure where you got your info but my 2000 3.2S Maintenance booklet calls for plugs to be changed every 30k miles or 48k km.

does it really make a difference? i have been debating on doing this too. i have 70k on mine and don't know if it was changed before. but the car runs fine. no kicking or sputtering. therefore i assume that it really won't make a difference if i change the plugs or not. am i completely stupid?

I would just change them out at the recommended interval even if the car is running fine. Plugs aren't that expensive and since you've been driving on your plugs for so long you might not notice any degradation in performance over the years. Plus pulling the plugs and inspecting them will tell you what the motor is doing inside. Also if you live in the salt belt and drive in the winter it's a good idea to replace them to keep them from seizing onto your heads.

Don't forget to swap out the tubes and gaskets too since you're right there. Usually one or more of them is cracked from the heat.

Thanks for your input guys, i'm going to change the plugs i think.

Any of the vehicle is mainly based on the plugs.I also need to change a plug whenever necessary.Without the plug vehicle is not ready to start and run. Also if there is no problem of plug then also you have to change the plug for every 6 months.

Phineasalton's post doesn't make and sense because he is most likely a scammer.
First post. Broken English. Web link in signature.
All the ear marks.

Though this time, he "tried" to make his post sort of about what the topic was about. Usually they just have some random topic that they use, just hoping that you and the rest of us clicks on the links in their signatures.

BC.

"Reisezubehör" in german is something like travel gear of equipment, try it :-) if you need something
