I, too, have painted calipers myself. Twice, in fact. The first time I used hi-temp engine enamel. The second was with G2 caliper paint. Both times my prep was immaculate. Both times the color and finish faded very quickly under heat. If I were to re-coat calipers again, I would remove them completely and have them powdercoated.
Others I know have used G2 successfully. If you drive hard I would shy away from it, though.
